This thoughtfully prepared three-volume work profiles roughly 500 individuals in the US--of Spanish-speaking heritage from any part of the globe--who have made major contributions in this
country. Most have not appeared previously in the publisher's Great Lives from History series. They come from all professions, and their activities have been in the arts, media, education,
business, government, and social justice arenas. The signed essays were written specially for this reference and follow a consistent structure consisting of a brief summary of accomplishments,
biographical data, and narrative regarding early life, life's work, and significance. The essays range in length from two to four pages and include reference and cross references. Appendices
comprise a chronological list of entries, mediagraphy, literary works, organizations, research centers, bibliography, and website directory. Indexing is by category, geography, and subject.
