The men who populate this collection of stories are hardly the alpha males celebrated in film and literature; they are men trying?and in some cases, failing?to adapt to the ever-changing world around them. Some are so smitten with teenage beauties it drives them to impotence; others are still being controlled by their mothers; still others are incapable of understanding or even noticing their wives' infidelities. While the situations the characters find themselves in are occasionally tragic or difficult, there is also an undercurrent of humor and tenderness to the stories sure to bring a smile to the face of any reader.
