The practice of community music therapy goes back several decades, say Stige (music therapy, U. of Bergen) and Aar繪 (social psychology, Norwegian Institute of Public Health), but the
documentation and literature on it has been spotty. They think it is time for a textbook that collects and contextualizes the knowledge so far. It covers an overview and history of the field,
basic concepts such as health and well being and community and social resources, issues and processes in practice, and the development of the discipline and profession community music therapy.
