This book deals with Blake's complex poetry from the point of view of the way he used the term 'contraries'. Blake argues that only with contrary forces can there be progression. Without contraries is no progression reads most of Blake's poetry, making sense of a fragmentary career made up of false starts and revisioning of his project.His most enduring gift to his readers was the understanding of what his poems meant, but never imposing a meaning upon his readers. He wanted his readers to make up their own minds.
