Eliane Excoffier's photographic practice, presented here in is entirety for the first time, is focused on the female body. Through various non-digital manipulations of the image she has created
a singular iconography that revives specific episodes in the history of photography. References to spirit photography, to Victorian erotica and to the work of key figures such as Eadweard
Muybridge and Irving Penn imbue her work. Excoffier's use of pinhole cameras and old cameras such as the Kiev 60 and the Autographic Kodak adds a retrospective dynamic to work which is
otherwise profoundly intimate and contemporary.
