Based on field work conducted in the Soviet Union/Russian Federation between July 1991 and November 1993 and already used by Gallopin (anthropology, College of Dupage) to produce his doctoral
thesis on social networks of Russian entrepreneurs, this work applies formal axiology, the mathematical study of values, to the material and synthesizes social network analysis and value
analysis in order to understand what drove Russian entrepreneurs as they navigated the transition from the Soviet Union to the Russian Federation. In his study he found several recurring themes
related to Russian strategies of survival, the cultural legacies of serfdom, the idea of a national work ethic, and the separation between public and private life. Annotation 穢2010 Book News,
