Separated United Forms elaborates on the site-specific and conceptual aspects of David Schafers public sculpture of the same name, commissioned for the Outpatient Pavilion at the Huntington
Hospital complex in Pasadena, California. Working with 3D imaging technology, Schafer scanned and remixed a small Henry Moore sculpture from the Norton Simon Museum to create a new artwork that
comments on the body and the medical gaze, as well as the 19thcentury concept of Vitalism. Featuring a dynamic array of full-colour plates documenting Schafers working processes including
digital sampling, 3D modelling, rapid prototyping, and bronze casting
