William Christenberry: The Early Years, 1954-1968

This is the paper edition of a 1996 work published to coincide with an exhibition featuring the early works of Christenberry, a nationally- known artist who has been teaching at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, DC since 1968, but whose roots are in the culture and environment of his native South, especially the region around Hale County, Alabama. Presenting his relatively little-known pre-1968 work, this catalog includes an extended biographical and interpretive essay as well as 93 illustrations, about half in color.
