High-quality color photos appear on every page of this horizontal format (10.5x7.5") portrait book of historic beach homes of the Florida resort town of Naples, one of the state's first planned
communities. The private homes profiled were built between 1895 and 1950, and may soon disappear in the next wave of land value escalation, because Naples has no regulations for the
preservation of historic dwellings. An opening chapter gives a history of Naples, emphasizing economic and real estate issues and architectural trends. Individual profiles give information on
the architecture, interior design, building history, and family history of each house, outlining how they have survived threats from storms and from the frenzied economic growth of the area.
The book concludes with a list of cottage addresses and an inventory of historic sites in Naples. Wilson is a member of the American Society of Interior Designers. Photographer Penny Taylor's
photos are on permanent exhibit at the Norris Center in Naples. Annotation 穢2011 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
