When a violent explosion rocks Los Angeles, killing thousands and leveling an entire beachfront community, the news media reports that a nuclear device was involved. The president moves fast to prevent panic across the nation. The government receives an ominous threat from an anonymous Middle Eastern source: Similar attacks will be launched upon other American cities unless all aid to Israel is terminated, virtually isolating the Jewish State and allowing its Arab neighbors to overrun it. The FBI, CIA and other federal organizations are called to action. A crack U. S.-Israeli team is given the daunting assignment of uncovering the source of the threat and the identity of the next targeted city against a five day deadline.The team: Lara, a young female FBI computer whiz and decoding expert and Uri, a charismatic male Mossad field agent who has seen active and frightening duty in the fight against terrorist groups in Israel. The book follows sixteen-year-old Walid from his fascination for and indoctrination into Hezbollah. He is sent to school in the states and, as planned, meets and marries Sara, an Arab-American citizen. Walid planted the bomb in a marina in California and at the critical time, dialed nine-one-one and announced: A bomb is set to go off in the marina, a nuclear bomb.We meet Hossein in a small town on the coast of a southern state, posing as the owner of a small engine repairing shop for cover, while working to develop a second bomb, this one intended for Chicago. He works desperately to bring together the elements needed to construct the device, first failing and, finally, succeeding. His goal is to bring about the destruction of the west and to "be the Muslim avenger of all time." Lara and Uri race against time to determine which American city is targeted next and to uncover the identity of the unknown Islamist terrorists. Following the frustration of many failed attempts, Lara breaks the code and determines that Chicago is the next targeted city. A desperate chase through the labyrinth of underground Chicago begins, bringing them face to face with the terrorists, detonator at hand.
