Chasen, a drama therapist and founding director of Kid Esteem Inc., describes a model of drama therapy rooted in neuroscience and designed specifically to develop social, emotional, and
expressive language skills in children ages 5-11 with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The book begins with vignettes of six children in drama therapy. The author then reviews clinical
conditions and possible causes and treatments of ASD, and explains the theoretical underpinnings and techniques of drama therapy. The second part of the book presents a 30-session drama therapy
program using techniques such as guided play, puppetry, video, and improvisation. Real-life scenarios from the author's own practice demonstrate techniques. There is also advice on space,
materials, and other practical issues of setting up and running such a program. Chasen's work has been featured in Newsday, The New York Times, and radio and TV news. Annotation 穢2011 Book
