Curator Lydia Yee of the Barbican Art Gallery (UK) initiated the idea of the eponymous exhibition held during the second quarter of 2011, and she brought aboard several contributors: Jane
Crawford (a film-maker and director of the estate of Gordon Matta-Clark); RoseLee Goldberg (founder of Performa, an interdisciplinary arts organization); Alanna Heiss (director of Art
International Radio, a non-profit Internet radio station); and Philip Ursprung (modern and contemporary art, U. of Zurich). This catalogue includes quotes and excerpts from the three featured
artists' writings, as well as interviews, essays, a chronology, and a bibliography. A generous number of photos and other visulas shown in the exhibition are intermingled with the text.
