The first monograph of the Indian artist Sohan Qadri, a modern Tantric painter. Sohan Qadri’s lush and transcendent works of dye on paper recall the palette and spiritual cornucopia of India,
Qadri’s homeland. Rich dyes of ochre, cerulean, crimson, or saffron transform the surfaces of each work into effulgent pools from which the eye cannot look away. For the first time this book
shows a huge selection of Qadri’s medium-sized dye-and-ink-on-paperworks. His paintings are monochrome surfaces with structural effects that, in their repetition, convey the rhythmic
expressions of color energies. The vibrations created by these energies are endless and break the boundaries between the inner space of the image and the external space of the viewer. Qadri’s
works are in the National Gallery of Modern Art in New Delhi, the Peabody Essex Museum in Essex, Massachusetts, as well as in private international collections.
