Twenty-eight speakers from Canada, France, Japan, the US, and the UK addressed attendees from all over the world at a conference held at the British Museum in 2008. The conference attracted
scholars with interests in the medieval period, art, and textiles; it was the biggest symposium in the UK in recent times on the subject of the Bayeaux Tapestry. Of the 26 presentations, 19
papers are printed in full in this volume along with abstracts of seven more. A black-and-white facsimile of the tapestry is included, with figures numbered for ease of referencing. The editors
are affiliated as follows: Michael J. Lewis (British Museum), Gale R. Owen-Crocker (Anglo-Saxon culture, U. of Manchester, UK), and Dan Terkla (English, Illinois Wesleyan U., US). Distributed
