Editor Ginsberg (strategy and entrepreneurship, Leonard N. Stern School of Business, New York U.) offers an introductory chapter explaining the contents of this anthology, which consists of 32
previously published articles and book excerpts. His selections fall into four groupings pertaining to four elements or stages of entrepreneurship: strategies of business-positioning,
legitimacy-seeking, alliance and franchising, and business-harvesting. For example, he has chosen several articles from the J. of Business Venturing, addressing the modeling of new venture
performance, new firm survival, and change and experimentation in new ventures. Other examples: from Administrative Science Quarterly, an article on using symbolic management to acquire
resources, and another on investments in US biotechnology firms by foreign and domestic corporate partners; and from J. of Economic Behavior and Organization, an article on sequential
divestiture through initial public offerings. The collection is not indexed. Annotation 穢2011 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
