Made in Norway presents a selection of 31 new projects from all over the country, from the capital Oslo to the Arctic north, demonstrating Norwegian architects' responses to a variety of
different situations, both natural and urban.
The natural landscape is a strong influence in many of these elegant and sensitive projects. The increasing urbanisation of Norway has also required similar sensibilities, as demonstrated by
projects like the Oslo Opera by Snohetta or the recent urban projects of the late Pritzker Prize laureate Sverre Fehn.
Most people know very little about Norway. There are, after all, only about 4,8 million Norwegians, a miniscule proportion of the world's population. The likelihood of meeting a Norwegian, even
on the streets of some of the biggest cities in the world, is very slight. However, perhaps precisely because the world knows only little of Norwegians and Norwegian architecture, we have all
the more opportunity to make an impact, if only through the element of surprise.
