The Three Kings

Christy de la Cruz  had  it all—successful career as an interior decorator in Albuquerque, marriage to a fun, handsome man, and a supportive family, especially her cousin Maggie (Magdalena).  Now she’s down to two out of three. That great husband (her first love) turned out to leave her….for another man.  Now Christy feels lost—and a little bitter, if truth be told—humiliated, and is licking her wounds as she tries to get back in the dating game.  But “The Rules” and “Love in 90 Days” aren’t working and Christy is in serious danger of becoming too prickly to get near, much less to date. Then Maggie presents Christy with three great guys, just like the three wise men of the nativity story, making an effort, bearing gifts and displaying their wares, all for her: Melchior, Caspar and Balthazar.  Melchior is a sexy outdoorsman with a huge love of wildlife; Caspar a metrosexual pretty boy, Santa Fe-style; and Balthazar a rugged, laconic cowboy type. Each is gorgeous; each woos Christy hard. But Christy gets more out of it than a predictable tale of which king will win her hand (though one of them will!); each king brings inspiring life lessons about humility and compassion that are heartwarming and perfect for the holiday season.

The Three Kings is Alisa’s most traditional novel yet, with emphasis on the importance of family, faith, friendship, and culture, told against the unique and magical backdrop of New Mexico.  It’s also a fun book—the men she chooses among are great, it’s witty as can be, and has a heartfelt story that delivers.
