Margot Van Voorhies was a major designer of silver jewelry. In the 1930s and 40s, she and her husband, a silversmith, established a workshop and design studio in Taxco, Mexico. This book
focuses on Van Voorhies's innovations in enamel jewelry, and also profiles four contemporary artists working in the art of enameling. A 35-page opening photo essay highlights 20 specific
designs for jewelry sets. The book then describes her childhood and early life and recounts her years in Mexico and her role in creating the Margot de Taxco style. Appendices present design
drawings and a timeline. The book is illustrated with color photos of jewelry, studios, and artists at work on every page. Morrill (George Mason University) has established the Spratling-Taxco
