Yeang has pioneered the application of ecological principles to passive, low-energy tall buildings, known as 'bioclimatic skyscrapers'. His sustainable design initiatives strive for the
ultimate ecological objective of integrating designed systems seamlessly and benignly within the natural environment.
Yeang has completed dozens of signature, deep green built works including the National Library of Singapore, Solaris at one-north (Singapore), the DiGi Technical Operation Centre (Malaysia) and
several buildings for the Malaysian IBM franchise, Mesiniaga. He has received numerous awards worldwide including the Aga Khan Award for Architecture (Geneva), the Prinz Claus Award
(Netherlands) and the Singapore National Parks Skyrise Greenery Award. He currently has ongoing projects in England, Malaysia, Singapore, India, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, China and the United
States.
Ken Yean was trained at the Architectural Association School in London. He received a PhD for his research on ecological factors in the design and planning of the built environment from the
University of Cambridge (UK). Yeang's Malaysian office, T.R. Hamzah & Yeang Sdn. Bhd. was established in 1976 and currently has offices in Kuala Lumpur and Beijing. Yeang is also the
Chairman of the UK architecture and planning firm, Llewelyn Davies Yeang.
