Faszer-McMahon (Spanish, Seton Hill U.) considers how the poetry of Clara Jan矇s (b. 1940) mediates competing religious and cultural worldviews in the context of contemporary Spain, looking at
it through the perspective of cultural otherness and how she uses aesthetic innovation and interest in cultural forms from outside the Western tradition. She discusses the text Kampa, which
includes a musical lyrical composition performed on tape; Div獺n del 籀palp de fuego, which incorporates an Islamic legend about unification; Los secretos del bosque, which weaves Islamic,
Jewish, Christian, and Hindu traditions; and the juxtaposition of western and eastern philosophical traditions in her recent book of visual poetry, Espacios transl繳cidos. Distributed by
