One summer day, Sasafune visits his grandfather's house and finds an unfamiliar manuscript left on the desk. He starts reading it and all of a sudden he is transported to a strange place where
his grandfather is waiting. His grandfather explains that they are at the "inn of imagination"--the hotel written in the script. Whoever reads it is invited to this imaginary place for a
reason. Sasafune proceeds to experiences the novel as a live show: he sees and feels what's written in the script, but he learns upon check-out that he must pay the hotel charge by giving a
little bit of his soul. By doing so, his presence will be inked into the novel and he becomes part of the tale. Whatever is written on the manuscript happens in this imaginary place and
whatever happens at the guesthouse will automatically be added to the manuscript to ensure that the story continues.
