The Day of the Triffids

In times of uncertainty, science fiction has an increasingly powerful role to play, attracting wide audiences. First published in 1951, The Day of the Triffids is the story of Bill Masen, and Englishman who has made his living working with Triffids, plants capable of aggressive and seemingly intelligent behavior. When a meteor shower watched by millions renders much of the population blind, the Triffids move in to take-over and the survival of humanity itself comes under great threat.
