With the goal of making American music accessible to teachers, students, performers, and scholars, Ward presents an annotated bibliography of American keyboard music from the eighteenth and
nineteenth centuries, which is rarely performed and difficult to find. He lists, alphabetically by title or composer, print or electronic media collections of American solo piano and ensemble
music found in recent publications since 1970. Sub-listings categorize their contents by skill level or ensemble type, with comments and description, and he also proposes a core repertoire that
parallels commonly taught and performed European repertoire. Collections for piano and other instruments, with vocal recitation, with orchestra, and ragtime are not listed. Song arrangements
that can be performed as solo works and organ music that does not require foot pedals are included, as are selected single issue publications. Annotation 穢2010 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
