The goal of this work is to illustrate how practices of corporate social responsibility (CSR) are developing around the world, the different legal structures of CSR, different governance and
ownership structures, and differing societal expectations regarding the importance of varying stakeholder groups. Mallin (corporate governance and finance, U. of Birmingham, UK) presents case
studies of general CSR dynamics in Italy, Spain, Russia, South Korea, and Japan, in addition to case studies of specific companies operating in Europe and Australia. Additional chapters discuss
the strategic use of CSR by the gaming industry, accounting disclosure and human rights in the oil industry, the adoption of codes of conduct and its impact on labor unions in the Turkish
garment industry, and CSR in Islamic financial institutions in the Middle East. Annotation 穢2010 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
