The 17 studies were generated by a research project funded by the European Commission as part of its decade-long debate about the role of corporate responsibility. The over-riding question here
is whether and how such responsibility can contribute to the fulfillment of European Union policy goals. Researchers in environmental sciences, environmental economics, and related fields--many
of them with the Budapest University of Technology and Economics--take as case studies the oil, fish processing, banking, and automotive supply industries. They cover the analytical framework,
survey data on selected issues, assessing and explaining the sustainability impact of corporate social responsibility, and public policy. Annotation ©2009 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
