These two physical volumes comprise Volume II in the series, which is projected to extend to nine volumes at completion, the final volume providing indices and a general bibliography of
medieval Scandinavian poetry. The first volume, published in 2005, covers Kings' sagas from mythical times to 1035, and this volume continues that treatment from 1035 to 1300. Specialists in
skaldic poetry within such disciplines as English and other Germanic language and literature, and Medieval studies set out the Old Norse verses followed by modern Icelandic and English prose
translations, and provide notes and commentary. They also include what information is available about the poet, and cite and discuss the saga that the verse is embedded in. The arrangement of
named skalds is chronological; a small final section treats anonymous poetry and anonymous lausav穩sur. The two volumes are paged and indexed together by first lines and by names and terms.
