The Ramos collection's chief curator introduces this bilingual English-Spanish catalog of an important exhibit of 90 works by 62 Cuban artists from 1800-1958. The 12 X 10 " volume contains
previously unpublished essays by the Ramos brothers on the collection's history, Cuba's "Identity and Diversity," and graphic arts. They address why self-exiled artists and traditional
academic-styled artworks have not played a major role in previous Cuban exhibits and publications. Grouped chronologically within category (e.g., portraits, everyday life, avant-garde),
paintings are paired with a short essay on each work's relation to Cuban history/culture. Includes biographical sketches of the artists, from Pastor Argudin Pedroso to Alberto Wop籀n. Published
