This text is one of the first to engage in a dialogue with Asian-Hispanic writers. The manuscript adds an element to Latin American, Diaspora, Cultural and Asian American Studies by bring the
Asian diaspora in Spanish American to academic inquiry. The Asian diaspora has been largely excludes from numerous areas studies, although the topic is both apropos and in great need of
inclusion. There are significant populations of Asian descent in countries such as Cuba, Peru, Panama and Argentina. Moreover, there are many Hispanics of Asian descent who actively participate
in the social and cultural realms of their respective countries. Their absence reflects the necessity that still exists in trying to be more inclusive in the academic approach to concepts
regarding national and ethnic identity.
