Bingham's paintings and Ritter's photographs have much in common with regard to sensory experience, perception and a sense of phenomenon. While Bingham's work echoes the long tradition of
modernist painting, Ritter pays homage to the shorter history of Canadian photography. Yet both display a sense of theatricality in their work: Bingham in the physicality of the act of painting
and Ritter in the act of performance. This publication of a joint exhibition draws out the connection between modern convention and post-structuralist practices.
