H.J. Rose's standard work was originally published in 1928, and was sustained in revised editions for the next 30 years. Resurrected in 2004, it was completely rewritten and substantially enhanced and supplemented; this paperbound reprint makes the 2004 work available to a wide audience. Chapters are portioned thematically, including sections on the rise of Zeus and revolts against his rule, the brothers and sisters of Zeus, the younger Olympian deities, lesser deities and nature-spirits, Herakles and the Heraklids, Jason and the Argonauts, and more.
