Although Pearson began as an abstract painter, today most of his works portray individuals and groups in transient venues, such as bars, diners, or hotels. Patterns remain an important feature
of all his compositions, which may include words, architectural features, and other images or symbols. In an interview with the artist we learn of Pearson's admiration for artists of the 1920s
and 1930s, particularly those associated with German Expressionism. Along with paintings and drawings, Pearson produces videos, which share a painterly quality in their production style visual
appearance and thematic concerns.
