The High Sierra: Peaks, Passes, and Trails

An avid climber, Secor has done extensive climbing throughout western North America, Tibet, Nepal, Pakistan, Argentina, and Mexico. Based on 35-plus years of notes and exchanges with fellow Sierra hikers, climbers, and skiers, his text offers outdoors enthusiasts a guide to thousands of routes on some 600 peaks in California's High Sierras, all organized into chapters covering 13 areas from the south to the north part of the region. In this first update since the 1999 second edition, Secor has revised, reorganized, and expanded the material to include 225 new routes, added 75 peaks and passes, and added 80 new b&w photographs of peaks and passes. Each chapter features route descriptions and photo overlays; approach roads and trails; mileage and elevation information; GPS-enabled driving directions; alternative linkage routes between regions; details on permits, safety, and weather; and historical information, including first ascent dates.
