After being moved to a new city in the spirit of adventure by her hippie parents, Maggie Dempsey is determined to not make any new friends upon her arrival in Austin in order to avoid the heartbreak that will happen when she has to go, yet when things don't go as planned, Maggie tries to prepare herself for the inevitable as best she can.
