A key figure in the so-called Ticino School of the 1960s to 1980s, Swiss architect Gianola is known for his independent style combining craft precision with high formal and aesthetic values.
Accossato (Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio) presents the first publication of the complete works of Gianola. Illustrated throughout with color and b&w photographs and diagrams, the
text opens with Frank Werner's (architecture, Bergische U., Wupertal) essay on Gianola's career and key aspects of his work, followed by documentation of 21 public and private buildings
designed by the architect. The text concludes with Gianola's greatest success to date: his submission to an international competition for a new cultural center in Lugano, for which he won the
commission in 2002. All text throughout the publication is provided in both English and Italian. Distributed in the U.S. by National Book Network. Annotation 穢2008 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
