The Roman Catholic world is waiting for the Pope to convoke the next Ecumenical Council - Vatican Council III. Archbishop Van Eyck has appeared on the list of names intended to be promoted to Cardinal status. The Archbishop is an insanely ambitious man, a popular liberationist and outspoken radical reviled by the power brokers of the established order. There is one objection: A dying cardinal, Allegro, who is unable to disclose his reasoning due to the sanctity of the confessional.
