Investigating the apparent suicide of a prominent businessman, Yorkshire police officers Andy Dalziel and Peter Pascoe become suspicious when they discover that the victim's father died in the same manner, and that Pascoe's boss, detective superintendent Dalziel, was an officer on the case. Reprint.
