Death In Danzig

The narrator of a Polish family that has been driven out of Warsaw moves into a home that was hastily abandoned by its former German residents during the 1945 Russian occupation of Danzig, and interacts with a German former professor who has refused to leave his home after the death of his lover and a young Carpathian woman whose cheerful demeanor hides deep wounds.
