Harboring nostalgic memories about the Austrian childhood home missed by his recently deceased mother, playboy and restoration architect Max Berman temporarily abandons his New York lifestyle in the hopes of reclaiming the family house, an effort during which he begins a relationship with the talented young Nadja and befriends holocaust survivor Arthur Spitzer.
