Art of Colonial Latin America

Bailey (art history, Clark U., Worcester, Mass.) has done a commendable job of presenting in a concise format a readable and coherent overview of the issues, contexts, and history that surround the vast field of colonial art and architecture throughout Latin America. Chapters present discussion of the European models that influenced colonial forms, the indigenous response to colonization, the forms of imperialism, the guilds and academies for art, major church architecture, and arts of the aristocracy.
