This volume contains some 130 contemporary reviews of the poetry of Thomas Hardy which were originally published in newspapers and periodicals, giving for the first time a comprehensive picture of the immediate critical response to Hardy's poetry when it was first published. Fully annotated reviews of each of the eight individual volumes of poems are given, allowing a reader to trace the chronological development of reactions to Hardy's poetry over the course of 30 years.
