Fifteen international academics, researchers, engineers, and development specialists contribute ten chapters written as part of a research project on irrigation reform initiated by Geert Diemer
(World Bank and INPIM), L. K. Joshi (IndiaNPIM), and Peter Mollinga (Wageningen U., The Netherlands) in the late-1990s. Featuring eight case studies from seven different countries in Asia,
Southern Africa, and Latin America, the text provides a socio-political analysis of the different phases and elements of policy formulation and implementation. It is the authors’ hope to
contribute to advancing reform processes in the direction of democratic governance and management, efficient and equitable water distribution, and sustainable land and water use. Annotation
