Living a quiet life in a California lighthouse in 1886, Eliza Jane is puzzled by the stories she hears about the Chinese immigrants in her community and so begins to question why she isn't allowed to befriend a kind Chinese boy who recently rescued her from drowning in the sea. Reprint.
