The second installment in the fantasical triology follows Rohain, the Lady of the Sorrows, who has faced a realm of faery folk and other mystical creatures to get the help of healer Maeve One-Eye and journeys to the king-emperor to share the information gleaned from the healer, but when she arrives in the court, she soon discovers that she is being stalked by dangerous forces who want her dead.
