借鑒和創造

上海外語教育出版社從成立以來一直是我國外語教育最優秀的後勤部和偵調部。因為它不但為我國各個層次（尤其本科與研究生層次）的外語教育提供了多種高水平的教材、教參和工具書，而且還出版了多學科、多語種和猛烈的中文版和外文版的學術著作，比如“現代語言學叢書”、“牛津應用語言學叢書”、“美國文學史論譯叢”、“外國文學史叢書”、“劍橋文學指南叢書”、“當代英語語言學叢書”以及列入國家及教育部規劃的人文社科重點項目的外國語言文學、文化等方面的圖書等。為了適應我國現代化建設和教育改革的需要，還出版最一批國際金融、對外貿易、涉外保險、國際經濟法、國際新聞和管理科學等方面的教材與專著。這些著作在外語的學科建設與學術研究以及復合型人才培養等方面都在發揮強有力的偵察、調研和指導作用。這是外語界有口皆碑的。

隨著中外文化交流的縱深發展以及我國現代化建設對人才的需求，對比語言學和翻譯學近些年來在我國有了較快的發展，是突出的證據就是�外語類碩士博士點上研究對比與翻譯方向的學生在逐年迅速增多，幣且我們的高校己經有了翻譯學院和翻譯系（當然還太少）。�外語專業的學生考中文、法律等其他人文社科專業的碩士、博士以及反方向的走向已經初步。這種跨學科的人才已成為人才資源競爭的最主要對象，因為發展趨勢定會看好。上海外語教育出版社為適應這種高層次人才培養和新學科建設的需要，不但積極出版國內關于對比研究和翻譯研究的專著和論文集，最近又推出了原版“國外翻譯研究叢書”，這套叢書時間跨度從古代到現代，所選書目皆為譯學發展史上有里程碑作用的名家名著，堪稱譯學經典。他們計劃分批出發，以滿足讀者的需求。

這套叢書的出版首先可以解決國內翻譯教學原版參考書多年匱乏的困難，真可以說是我國翻譯教學與理論研究的及時雨。我想學習和關心這個學科的師生和其他人士定會對這套書的引進為之歡呼，為之祝賀。

這套叢書的價值還在于能大大促進我國翻譯學科建設的發展。譯學學科的發展依賴于研究者在三個方面的深入研究和結合。一是對本國譯學的繼承性研究；二是對外國譯學的借鑒性研究；三是對翻譯實踐和翻譯教學中新問題的探索性研究。只有這三者研究深入並結合好了，才可能從經驗與技巧逐步升華為具有科學性的譯學理論。這三個方面的研究，改辜開放以來，在我國已取得了很顯著的威就，這是有目共睹的。翻譯學在我國已于20世紀80年代末有了獨立學科的初級形態，90年代又有了新的發展，對學科的獨立性以及理論體系的結構與功能有了更多的探討。依照學科建設的規律和研究現狀，我們尚需在上述三個方面加大研究力度，而這套叢書就是借鑒性研究的主要資源。從這個角度講，這套叢書的引進也是我國文化基本建設的重要工程之一。

在新的世紀，文化（包括各類科學技術）會多方面快速深入人類的日常生活，各國之間的交流會空前深廣，因此翻譯的功能會逐步擴大，實用性翻譯人才的需求量定會空前增加。這就要求我們除了做好高層次研究型人才的培養以外，還應十分重視實用性人才的培養和應用譯學的研究。我想出版社一定會關注和引導譯學建設的理論研究與應用的發展趨勢。
