Paul Rand once wrote: “Typography is an art. Good typography is Art.” Typography is the art of designing with type. To me, type becomes a magical tool capable of expressing any subject matter
through emotions and expressions. These expressions and emotions that can be conveyed through typographic forms are unlimited.
Expressive typography now offers a refreshing and vibrant take on graphic design where the relationship between type, image and message is a close-knit one. This book is about using type as
an image – makes the painting of the more abstract characters become an art form.
The resulting works convey a specific message and also evoke connotative images. It offers to the viewer a more intimate and expressive connection. The response is hence emotional and
also to encourage personal creative processes and self-reliance.
